Metal Grinding Room Precautions apply

You will be working in the Metal Grinding Room . In order to keep safe from hazards created by you or other workers using any of the tools in this room, the following precautions apply in addition to any other precautions: Safety Hazards Toxic Dust Projectiles Noise Burns (heat from friction) Sharp edges and tooling Entanglement in belts, spindles PPE Safety glasses Face shield Mask minimum N95 (P100 respirator preferred) Hearing protection Precautions Do Be careful when handing the workpiece or wheel as edges may be sharp Be careful when grinding as the workpiece will heat up, possibly causing burns Use the appropriate tool for the job - some wheels are not suitable for some materials Do Not Use grinding equipment with large gaps between the platen and the grinding surface If you know of anything that users shouldn't do while using the grinding room please put it here Any materials you shouldn't grind?

The 6" Bench Grinder with wire wheels is used for paint/rust removal, light cleaning, and surface finish tuning. Please be careful when using the wire wheels as both the workpiece and the wheel itself (especially individual bristles) can fly at your face and/or stab you in the eye.
